Name of Site/Business: Partsolver

Site's Main Purpose: Ecommerce/Sales

Please Review the following:
Does the home page sufficiently convince people to go further into the site?

Does/can the site achieve its main purpose?

Navigation. Is it clear and easy to understand?

Appearance/Attractiveness

Images failing to load

Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search engines?

Additional Comments/Notes
There are clearly several issues with the site as it stands, but I'm looking for changes that might be made on the GUI side without dealing with certain data issues (i.e. product descriptions, etc.)
thanks so much.
molly.

It bothers me that the logo isn't the same height as the top banner. It looks slightly out of place.

Very attractive home page and it certainly does encourage people to go further. The WSJ reference adds to that.

It also was a strage experience when I was on this page: AllBrands.asp?vertical=ce and then clicked on one of the links eg Daewoo, to be sent back to the "same" dropdown menu as was on the home page (yeah, I know that Daewoo had been filled in this time). It doesn't feel "right". I can't think of any better way to handle it right now, though.

The site layout looks okay to me. I didn't really notice the logo/banner difference until OAC pointed it out!

The only thing I found annoying was each new page I would go to I had to keep clicking "I'm about to enter/leave a secure connection" because of LivePerson. Anything you can do to fix that? Does the image need to be on a secure server? Sure, I could just ignore it, but that is my preference that I like it to pop up for me. This is one of my major pet peeves is when someone uses "https" and links to images/files on http and vice versa.

Other than that I think the page has a nice, clean layout. I can't test the feature, though, because I don't know any model/product numbers off the top of my head, haha. Good luck!

Partsolver

I like the logo, and the overall the front door looks professional with some technical exceptions.

I think there is too much content and text clutter competing with your site's statment of purpose. I think that the statment should be easier to read/see and should be closer to your logo. I am talking about this statement: The fast and easy way to find replacement parts and accessories for all the products in your home.

Currently your purpose states something I think is obvious, that it's "easy" to find parts. It better be or you will lose visitors. I think the most important part of your statement of purpose is that it says "for all the products in your home".

Also, you have a statment of value. Here: We stock millions of parts for thousands of models across hundreds of brands. I think the statment of value should be right above the search box on your home page. It states the value of doing a search, and I think that will make your visitors more confident and prompt them to search.

Overall the graphics are clean, but as mentioned lot's of text clutter on the door. It's a bit hard for me to tell where I should go first. Consider putting the "Click for Instant Help" below the search box where someone would look if they needed help.

Consider putting your brand logos down the right side of the site where they will be easily seen and build confidence, or you may consider removing them.

The header of the site is a bit noisy too. Hard to tell what is important info up there. It would be sufficient to say Open Late, Seven Days a Week, and then link to the hours. The nav buttons are a bit hard to read do to low contrast, but probably appropriate to not make them look like main nav elements, you really want people to consider the search box or category buttons the #1 starting point.

Didn't see you in Google for keywords Replacement Parts or for Parts and accessories. Make sure all your product pages have descriptions of the part, and the part name model and number is in your title tags. You may get a lot of traffic from people who go to google and just punch in a part number hoping to get a good result. You could be there for them.

I didn't get into your e-com system, but focused on things you can improve on the front door.
