Name of Site/Business: stocktoncityliving

Site's Main Purpose: Advertising (eg Banners, Google Adsense etc.)

Please Review the following:
Does the home page sufficiently convince people to go further into the site?

Does/can the site achieve its main purpose?

Navigation. Is it clear and easy to understand?

Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search engines?

Additional Comments/Notes
I am not indexed with G at all and don't know why. Also, site is two months old and zero click throughs. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Claude

Q1.Does the home page sufficiently convince people to go further into the site?

This is,ofcourse, a subjective question, however for myself I am not
persuaded to go into this site. The reason, primarily it is because of the
prominence and integration of the advertising. The site has a banner farm
feel to it,I usually stay away from this kind of site. The advertising has
to blend in more effectively with the site for me to consider going further.
Again that is just my opinion others may disagree.

Q2.Does/can the site achieve its main purpose?

Well the I think the site has to be more professionally designed to attract
advertisers.
The forum is a great idea but the rest of the site could do with a facelift
of some sort. Currently it doesn't look professional.

Q3.Navigation. Is it clear and easy to understand?

Having a large Google advertising banner below the nav. links does not help
you. Place the banner above the links or make the links graphical, at the
moment I think it is confusing as to what is a link and what is advertising.

Q4.Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search
engines?

The pages have good relevant content.Content is still king, however a number
of things are holding you back. The meta descriptions and keywords are
the same for each page. Google doesn't like duplicate content.

You have not got an 'alt' attribute in the images which gives you the
opportunity for more relevant (remember unique) keywords.

I see that you have created the site using MS Frontpage so I am assuming that
you have not got a great deal of html knowledge. The reason that I am making
this comment is that the first page is not a properly formed HTML document
(when I parsed the front page using the W3C validator,http://validator.w3.org
it threw up 79 errors). This is going to hurt you.Try and make the pages as
clean as possible.

Other comments:

It takes Google a while to index and 'recognize' your site, give it more than
2 months. In order for you to receive click throughs you need prominence in
the search engines which at the moment you do not have.

You have no other sites linking to you (no inward bound links) although you
have many outward bound links. So start a link campaign targeting free
business directories and other sites of a relevant nature that would be
prepared to trade links with you.

Yes this is hard work and I'm afraid it is going to take some time, give your
self another year before you start to see the fruits of all this hard work.
Hang about this forum for a while and read everything you can, I have and it
has helped me incredibly. There are some great people here.

Don't be put off by my comments, rather see what you already have as a
starting point for what could be a very successful site.

I hope that this info helps.....
