Name of Site/Business: Twilight Entertainment Zone

Site's Main Purpose: Ecommerce/Sales

Please Review the following:
Does the home page sufficiently convince people to go further into the site?

Does/can the site achieve its main purpose?

Navigation. Is it clear and easy to understand?

Appearance/Attractiveness

Typos and grammar

Images failing to load

Is the Contact, Privacy and Legal information adequate in relation to main purpose of site?

Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search engines?

Additional Comments/Notes
This site is about 10 months old now, when I first started a didn't even know that SEO existed, thanks to this forum it now has around 350 unique visitors a day and sales are always on the rise. I would appreciate any comments you may have and constructive criticism is always welcome.

Wow, you certainly have a very extensive selection of some unusual products. If I were into collecting horror/goth figures I would certainly be thrilled to find your site.

You undoubtedly know your target demographic better than I do, but my guess would be that it's predominantly male. In which case, I think the pink/purple color scheme might be a bit off-putting.

Navigation is clear, although I don't like the fact that on the horizontal tabbed bar, the mouseover extends above the individual tabs.

I would make the logo a link to the home page, that's a standard convention people expect.

uglystock.jpg is 131K. That's a bit hefty for a 180x244 image.

I tried to test your shopping cart, so I put in a bogus email under "I am a new customer. (You can create a password later)". When I proceeded to checkout it said "There has been a problem. Your password was incorrect, click here to have it emailed to you." So how do I create a password?

"We guarantee that every transaction you make at our shop will be 100% safe." following by a link to your Terms. But nowhere in your terms does it mention secure transactions. Eventually I found your SafeBuy page, but the text overlaps badly, making it almost impossible to read.

Good luck with it! smile

Thanks JeromeQ for an excellent and informative review, it's been very useful. I've checked out each point you,ve made.

The horizontal navigation is part of a set template that comes with the shopping cart system and is non editable. I may darken the purple colour system used, gradually over time so there's no drastic change for our regulars, although over 70% of our customers are female. The goth dolls and plush are our main sellers.

The logo has now been sorted and uglystock.jpg is now 25k.

The password issue is a strange one, I and my shopping cart providers have tried to reconstruct the problem without success. When we enter a test email, tick new customer and continue to checkout, the next page asks for a password to be created as it should do. Anyway I'll keep an eye on this for a while.

The Safebuy page is part of the Safebuy site and has recently been updated, although I have not witnessed the text overlap problem myself I have alerted them of this issue.

Once again, thanks for your help and a great review.
