Hi, Here are some thoughts: (1) Use the same links in the same order, in 1 row, on the top and bottom of every page. (2) "Home" has an extra space in it. Delete "shopping" from the view cart link. (3) Put all the ordering info on 1 page, including the link to the mail order form. Put the definitions and "About H2o Jewelry", from the information page, on the home page & delete link. (4) The links you really want people to see are these: Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets, Anklets. (5) Tell us about your jewelry, your store, and yourself (if appropriate) on the Home page. (6) The flashing "NEW" gif is mesmerizing. Probably not the intended effect. (7) I'd leave the leaves and flowers out of the product pics. Quality is great. (8) Use consistent layout for the product pages. The layout for earrings is really nice. The first time I visited your site, I got a popup. Popups have no place on a shopping site (or maybe anywhere). You want people to stay and shop. Also, my browser crashed and took the computer with it. I don't know if that was you or me. Anyway, hence, the brevity of my comments. Otherwise, it's a nice site with lovely products. Make your site as you would a piece of jewelry and it will be just as lovely.

Here's the code. It's on the earrings page:<!-- Begin BigHits page exchange code (c)2000 --> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript1.2" src="http://www.bighits.net/adid/id.js?ID=10623295"> </script> It appears after the closing HTML tag.

Nice looking pages and jewlery! The title tags are messed up on braclet page (others?). The keyword tags are under used. Keep searching these fourms for a ton of good information about search engine optimization. I think the pictures look good ... the enlarged pixs are not much bigger then the thumbnails. I think people won't mind waiting for a bigger pix if there serious about buying. These pages should also be optimised for SE ... whats up with the source code on those pages? Ok I agree no pop ups! You do nice work ... keep it up! best wishes d i g z

I need more info about optimizing for SE and the messed up source codes you're talking about. I'm pretty new at this and am still trying to figure out html. Thanks!

I think I just figured out what source codes you mean on the bracelets page...some of the links to detailed pix are not working. For some reason, after I insert those hyperlinks, Frontpage isn't allowing me to save them to my site and they are remaining on my computer. I've tried everything I know to do and I can't seem to fix that, so I inserted the pic in a new page and linked to that page.

Hi again! This is the code on braclet page: <title></title> <TITLE>Holly Herron Originals: bracelets page</title> Delete the first set of "title" tags. Please read and read some more on these forums. It is tough getting started but you are off to a good start. The meta tags on your site need work and this is the place to learn how to optimize. It may help to copy your code into notepad to work on it. Find the "bighits" lines of code and delete them to kill the pop ups. Hang in there you will get it! Did you email OAC? Best regards d i g z

Hi Holly,I just dropped by your site to see how it looks. Lots of great improvements! I have a couple of suggestions: (1) The link to the guestbook pic doesn't load very quickly, or maybe at all, because it's calling some very busy lycos server. In NS, the whole page won't load because of it. Maybe you could put that pic on your server? (2) The link hover effect is nice, but I wouldn't use bold. People really value stability in navigation, even in the appearance of the text. (3) The narrow table structure on "Earrings" looks better than the wide tables on the other product pages. (I realize I said this before, but hey). (4) Home page is looking good. It could use a bit of reorganization, though. (a) You probably don't need "where you will find unique" (b) 2nd sentance. How about: "Each beaded design is a unique creation and many use vintage beads". Next sentance: "Custom design orders are welcome!" That gets rid of a couple personal pronouns. (c) Order of information: Next I'd put "About H2O Jewelry", then "Some facts about H2O Jewelry" (except maybe rename it "Jewelry Guide" and include an example pic for each one - they're pretty), then put all the ordering info and so on. Again a narrower look would tighten up the appearance of the page (you pretty much never want to run text from margin to margin, anyway). Looks great!

aquarius, Thanks very much for the additional suggestions. I put most of them into place, so please check again. I'm not sure if the guestbook pic was done correctly, but it's now on my server instead of Lycos'. I couldn't figure out how to change the hover effect; MSFrontpage gets ornery at times, and I'm also still on the learning curve. If you can give me a hint as to how to change it in html, I'd be grateful. Since you use NS and I don't, your suggestions are very helpful to me! Thanks again.

Hi Holly,The hover code looks like this: <style fprolloverstyle>A:hover {color: #99CC00; font-weight: bold} </style> If you just cut "; font-weight: bold", that ought to do it. Here are the widths on the products pages: 472 pixels for Earrings, 83% for Necklaces, 90% for Neclaces, and 100% for Anklets. My favorite is the width on Earrings. A consistant appearance is really nice. The home page is starting to really shape up. I have a couple of specific suggestions: The width seems pretty good, but I'd move the text back to the middle, like the rest of the site. Middle seems to really work well with your site. A tad more reorganization: Text-wise, the best intro to your site is what you write under "About H2O Jewelry". Since the info you have now under "Welcome to H2O!" is repeated there, it seems that you could replace the "Welcome..." text with the "About..." text (but keep the "Welcome..." heading). Then put the "H2O Jewelry Guide". Then "Custom Orders". Then I'd put the text from "How Your Order is Handled" with "Ordering Information" under this later heading. I think you can just delete "Privacy" - why worry people? Plus, you can tell them this during the order process. You can think of it this way. People coming to your site want information in a certain order. First they want to know who you are, then what you offer, and then how you offer it. The guestbook pic is coming up nicely, but the home page still doesn't load in NS. I took a look at the code and the reason seems to be that there's no closing body or html tags: </BODY> </HTML> The other pages come up just fine. Otherwise it's looking really good. The pages load fast and the overall design is really nice.

Tiny suggestion:Put cellpadding=5 in the table on your front page to prevent text from almost being on top of the table lines. Otherwise, page looks great.
