My web logs show the following hits for the Month of March:

    Yahoo VerticalCrawler FormerWebCrawler 629
    YahooSeeker 3329

Anyone know the difference between these 2 bots? And doesn't nearly 4,000 hits seem to be a lot for a site that has 500 pages, tops? Yahoo brings me more traffic than Google and my serps in Yahoo have held steady for several weeks. I wonder what these bots are doing other than eating bandwidth.

These bots are (I believe) gathering data for their shopping portal - the Yahoo equivalent of Froogle.

Any thoughts on why 4,000 hits? Just curious, I am fairly happy with Yahoo. Better serps than Google, more traffic than Google, and my serps seem to be much more steady than Google. The way my site is configured I *guess" it could "find" all my product pages 2X. Adding all that up could be 800 pages or so on my site.

    No idea, I'm afraid.

Really a question for Yahoo's technical team. It could be that they just like your site or things like the crawler may be getting confused by session IDs or dynamic links.

Well holy crap batman, I just checked my serps. The "best" term - #3. My 2nd best - #2. This is unbelievable. I think Yahoo can spider my site all day long if it wants to! This is nuts. I *thought* I optimized (dirty word) for Google and my Yahoo positioning trounces Google. Right now I am in shock.
