Hi,

Just removed lots of alt tags from a site that were each identical to the title tage fot aht page - and also each quite long.

Was seen by some as potentially spammy.

Anway - when Yahoo re-crawl the site and find the newly written alt tags - will they forgive me immediately, and boost my ranking? Or will I stay in the dog house for a while? And if so, for how long? And if forever, how can I get them to reconsider it?

Thanks,

- Greg

What makes you think you are being penalised for alt spam?

If you're not being penalised, modifying the tags will do nothing to boost your rankings. If you are being penalised, you should see the penalty removed after 30 days.

Like hampstead said, if you haven't beened banned, you don't really have to worry about it.

If you have been banned (as in, don't appear in any Yahoo search e.g. site:www.domain.com, www.domain.com) then you have to worry about beig re-included.

Hi,

I guess I've not been banned then.

But I'm doing terribly in the rankings - and I;'m well optimised, have good content, and good links.

Do Yahoo aslo have a 'sandbox' effect like Google? Any other explanations for my abysmal performance?

For an HTML document to be considered valid, the alt attribute must be a minimum of alt="" if no words are present.
